UK varsity, IAA confer post-graduate degrees on 126 business students

The Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA) in partnership with Coventry University based in the UK, have awarded 126 Master’s degrees to students pursuing Business Administration in Information Technology and Management, Logistics Management as well as Masters of Sci
ence in Finance and Investment.
Speaking before the awards ceremony in Arusha, Coventry University Pro-Vice Councilor Ian Dunn said the degrees conferred on the students are internationally recognised and valued.

Dunn noted: “With a qualification from Coventry University, you will enter the global job market easily. I am confident that our reputation will be enhanced by each of you through your business interactions.

Coventry University is a global, enterprising institution, internationally known for its innovative and creative approach in education and research.
“Our university is one of the few varsities worldwide that really understand how to interface with business and is number one in UK working with Small and Medium sized enterprises. Therefore, the graduates should be rest assured that they are destined for a bright future.

The don urged graduates to help overcome the challenges facing the world today by putting the theory into practice.

“Reports show that higher learning changes people’s career aspirations and results in higher lifetime earnings, greater levels of job satisfaction and heightened personal wellbeing. As a graduate, you also take on a set of responsibilities for the good governance of business and commerce as well as for environmental maintenance,” he said.

For his part, IAA board of governing council acting chairperson Prof Lugano Kusiluka said: “We are celebrating our fifth Master’s degree graduation of 126 youths whereby 32 graduates are from the Information Technology Management faculty, 19 are from Logistic Management Faculty and 75 are from Faculty of Finance and Management.”

Prof Kusiluka also said that the complex and technical world today requires education and skills that were not needed in the past, it’s now the degree itself that counts but learning along the way.

He added: “Today’s graduation is not just another cheerful occasion, but also marks an important milestone in the history of collaboration between IAA and Coventry University.”

“We quickly positioned ourselves as a competitive, high quality institution with a long history.  We started with only two MBA masters’ degree programmes but today we have four, of which three are MBA programmes in information technology management, logistic management and procurement and supplies management,” he said.

He also said that IAA governing council for her commitment to transform IAA into the most innovative and entrepreneurial Institute in Tanzania and Africa in general.
