Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has pushed back this year's national U12 soccer tournament to December 30-January 5.

The federation's competitions director, Boniface Wambur
a, said the tournament, slated to take place in Mwanza, was previously expected to start on December 6 but had to be rescheduled to give room for completion of renovation of the event's three venues.

“Each of the regional outfits in the seven-a-side event must comprise 14 people - 12 players and two officials," Wambura said.

He said teams are expected to arrive in Mwanza from December 28 to complete procedures for participation.

"All teams will stay at Alliance School’s premises,” he said, adding that players eligible for the tournament must be aged less than 12 years, meaning the ones born from January 2003.

Meanwhile, the national second division league, which was previously expected to start on November 22, has been pushed back to December 6.
Ten matches were scheduled to take place in the opening day in five different venues.

Completion of the league's preparations has prompted the change of the event's opening date, according to Wambura.

Twenty-four teams from across Tanzania Mainland are taking part in the league.

Regions that have fielded teams in the event include Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Iringa, Katavi, Kigoma, Lindi, Mara, Mbeya, Morogoro, Mwanza, Njombe, Pwani, Rukwa, Ruvuma, Shinyanga, Singida and Tabora.
