Stop gap Miss Tanzania Sitti Mtevu has resigned for what she called being sick and tired of allegations which the social media and press were leveling against her.

Miss Tanzania organisers Hashim Lundenga of Lino International Agency said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that Sitti wrote a resignation letter to his committee on November 5.

Lundenga said Sitti’s runner-up Lilian Kamazima (18) who was also Miss Arusha had been promoted to be the new Miss Tanzania.

Lundenga said that Sitti’s letter stated that she had decided to step down because of the accusations leveled on her by the public and the press.

“We have accepted her decision. We do not have reasons to refuse her although her decision has shocked us,” Lundenga said.

“Always we have being insisting on our regulations and we will keep on making sure that no one is violating them,” said Lundenga.

Lundenga specified that in the letter, Sitti didn’t mention whether the allegations were true or false.

“We are happy also to have Lilian and from now we will give her every support as Miss Tanzania,” he emphasized.

On her side, Lillian who accompanied the Miss Tanzania Committee in the press conference said that she was happy to replace Sitti and promised to represent Tanzania at the Miss World contest well next year.

After Sitti was crowned last month, beauty fans leveled complaints about her, saying that he was over-aged. Some people even published what were given as her credentials such as her passport and driving license showing an actual age of 25 years.

The now defunct Miss Tanzania refuted the reports claiming that she was only 23 years old.

This is the first time for a crowned Miss Tanzania to resign since the Miss Tanzania beauty contest was reintroduced in the country in 1994.
