Swahili Fashion Show to be held next month
This year’s edition of Swahili Fashion Week will be held at the Sea Cliff Hotel in Dar es Salaam for three days from December 5, founder of the event Mustafa Hassanali confirmed yesterday.
Hassanali said 24 local and international designers are expected to showcase their creativity talents during the show.
He said the fashion week is aimed at reaching out to the public to emphasize and promote talents in the fashion industry.
Hassanali said the fashion week is the platform for Swahili speaking countries to showcase their creativity.
‘This is the sevenths year that the Swahili Fashion Week is being
staged and collectively bringing together designers from within Tanzania
and beyond to showcase their collection, predicting trend for the East
Africa market for the year 2015. The fashion week is aimed at building
designers and their brands by taking them to the international level,’
he said.
The designer also said the fashion week will feature shopping
festival throughout the days and he urged the public to support local
fashion industry.
‘We urge the public to support the designing industry and proudly
wear made in Africa clothes, the local talents need to be supported,
nurtured to evolve them into synonymously globally recognised brand
names,’ he said.
He said this year’s event is being sponsored by East African Radio
and Tel
evision (EATV), Sea Cliff Hotel, Serengeti Breweries Limited
(SBL) and other companies.
