Kijitonyama junior tennis tourney set for Dec 6

Junior tennis players in Dar es Salaam and their counterparts from the rest of the country have been presented with an opportunity to put their skills to test in the Kijitonyama Open tournament, penned for December 6-7.
 
Kijitonyama Tennis Club has organised the event and the outfit’s sponsorship coordinator, Inger Njau, said it is aimed at celebrating Independence Day.

She said the tournament is expecte
d to attract many junior players that will compete in both boys and girls categories.

“It will involve singles event for boys and girls aged 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 18 years,” Njau said.

  “The main sponsors of the tournament are Jubilee Insurance…we are very thankful for their generous support,” she added.
The tournament is expected to be a crucial opportunity for the hosts’ layers to prove their worth at their backyard.

Promising Kijitonyama Tennis Club’s U14 player, Shadya Kitenge, will, in particular, be under huge pressure to replicate her impressive performance in a recent competition held at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club.

Meanwhile, Kijitonyama Tennis Club’s hosted a social open tournament recently in which Hassan Mkanjira emerged the champion and Catherine took the second position while Gumunyu came third.
